Each August, we coordinate and sponsor a Flag Football program for boys & girls in grades K-5. Practices are held throughout September until the game t-shirts arrive in time for a 6 week game season.

Registration: Registration forms are mailed out to prior participants as well as mass distributed to the Carbondale area schools. .

Leagues & Teams: The Flag program is open to all kids ages 5-11 (birthdates prior to 9/1) divided into 2 brackets: A(K-1-2) & B(3-4-5) (grade in school). Players will be divided evenly within the age brackets to provide teams with 8-10 players, It is highly recommended that anyone interested in coaching read the NFL Flag coaching information and the game rules. The CJS flag rules are very similar to these and can be downloaded here. This information and example game plays are provided at www.nflyouthfootball.com.

Practices/Games: Once teams have been selected, practices may begin with the limitation of only 3 practice or game sessions per week. Games are typically played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Attucks park, depending on the number of teams formed. The season is typically 6 weeks. A playoff per bracket will be played during the last week of the season.

Uniforms/Equipment: Players will receive a t-shirt TO KEEP. Rubber cleated shoes are recommended for all participants, but not required. Mouthpieces are optional and are provided by CJS for players who don’t provide their own.
